The International Observatory of Human Rights to broadcast videos and documentaries produced by Thomson Reuters Foundation on its human rights TV channel

18 April 2019

The International Observatory of Human Rights is proud to announce that it will be supporting the Thomson Reuters Foundation by broadcasting its video content and documentaries on its dedicated TV channel.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Thomson Reuters and runs free programmes that promote the highest standards in journalism and spread excellence in the practice of legal pro bono worldwide.

Valerie Peay, director of The International Observatory of Human Rights, said: “It is a great honour to support such a pioneer in the world of media as we share the same commitment of fostering the highest standards of story-telling that leads to better-informed societies. By broadcasting on IOHRTV we aim to raise awareness on topical human rights issues worldwide.”

IOHR has established the first human rights television platform that caters to a growing viewer base highly engaged in global affairs and preserving human rights.

IOHRTV, which broadcasts on internet TV platform Netgem.tv, is enjoyed by thousands of people subscribed to their service in 20 countries on four continents across Europe, Australia, Latin America and the Middle East.

Some of the Thomson Reuters Foundation short documentaries that will be featured on IOHR focus on issues that both organisations are committed to covering, such as sex trafficking, women’s rights, the human impact of climate change, governance and human rights, equality and tolerance, press freedom and topical subject matters related to defending human rights.
