Meltem Oktay, a former reporter for the Pro-Kurdish Dicle News Agency (DIHA) and a prominent human rights activist, was arrested and imprisoned for speaking up against the Turkish state on her social media accounts. While reporting during the government-imposed curfew in Nusaybin, she was accused of “creating propaganda for the outlawed Kurdish group PKK”. Now, she lives in exile but continues to stand up against oppression and human rights violations.
